What We Gave Him for His 9th Birthday

On Tally’s birthday, my mom texted me, “I think the oldest and youngest people are the most surprising as they get older.”

And this feels so right to me.

I can’t believe my baby is 9 years old! A few months ago, he fell asleep during the day and I could still see the last vestiges of him as a baby on his little cheeks and lips as he fell asleep on the couch.

Here’s what he got for his birthday!

WHAT WE GOT A 9 YEAR OLD FOR HIS BIRTHDAY

Lola Blanket
I got a Lola blanket as a gift last year and was blown away at how good it is – it’s definitely my blanket of choice now. When I asked Tally what she wanted for her birthday, she said “if I could only have one gift, I would ONLY want a Lola blanket!” Yes, her wish came true (my affiliate code DAILY). Her excitement when she opened it was everything I expected.

Calico Creature Cat
Tally and Star spend a lot of time with friends playing Calico Critters, but until now we haven’t had one! This was something Tally requested and we considered many options before choosing this cute cat family.

Calico Critter Grocery Store
Of course, when we browsed all the Calico Critter products, we couldn’t resist this little grocery store hit with the feline family. It was a huge success!

Prepare LEGO sets
This was Ella’s gift to Tally and the funny thing is it was a repeat gift. Ella got this a few years ago and had never even opened it and knew Tally would love it. We hope Tally doesn’t remember it, but when she opens it, she says “didn’t you get that a long time ago??” Thankfully, he still enjoys doing it and has been working on it all week.

Llama Stuffed Animal
This was Ani’s gift to Tally and Tally immediately named the big one Mama Llama and the four small ones Bahama Llama, Pajama Llama, Drama Llama, and Trauma Llama which made us laugh!

Cashier
This was on Tally’s Christmas list and appeared again on her birthday wish list so finally all her dreams came true when Star chose this for her. The neighborhood kids have made so many games in the last few days using this!

This was my parents’ gift to Tally and since her sister got this for Christmas, she was thrilled to get a gift of her own! If you’ve never used one of these before, they’re pretty cool!

Sweater
This is another gift from my parents for Tally and it is a cozy sweater (perfect for Tally who loves all things cozy). And it’s such a cute sweater!

Bart’s parents always gave books to their grandchildren for their birthdays and my mother-in-law bought this book for Tally in Australia last summer. He had the best time checking it out and asking us all about it!
